Mystery Rotor - ISO replacement

Hello all,

I recently had a mishap with the rotor on my '25 coupe and part of the contact at the top has broken off. There is no identification on the distributor that tells me what make the distributor is, and I have not come across a rotor that looks exactly like this one before, so I am struggling to find a replacement rotor. Would anybody be able to identify what make my rotor/distributor is based on the attached pictures or would anybody have any ideas as to where I could find a replacement?

Hello Henry,

I was just looking up parts for a Texas T distributor. I will post the Napa and O'Rielly part numbers. I KNOW they are not the same as what you have. IF your distributor is a Bosch, these MAY fit. Let me know and I'll get the numbers up.

Hi Henry,
I'm a distributor fan & I don't think this is a real big issue. There are several rotors with a contact that is very close to that & others can be used
to make a replacement contact for that rotor. The issue is you can't easily drill & cut that kind of spring steel & there is really no way to rivet
it back together so you will need to drill out the rivet & tap & screw it back together. I have even seen them soldered on.

Pep. Type in older tractor and car distributor rotors in your search bar for the net. No kidding there are a LOT that will come up and some are real close to the shape of what you’re looking for.
It was surprising how many come up. Hope this helps.

There's a lot of similar rotors, but the one that's needed appears to be driven by a pin that fits into the small hole on the underside. None of the ones pictured above as being possibly "close enough" will work. That drive pin aspect will perhaps be a feature that speaks to someone familiar with that style.

Can you post a picture of the distributor itself? It may be that someone will recognize the brand.

The rotor that is shown in the Ebay listing that was posted by Ed has not been repaired, that is an original Delco-Remy #806973. That rotor has/had a replaceable contact point/spring (#806957) that was sold separately for service. The one that was posted by Henry in his original post is an aftermarket replacement with a non-replaceable spring, I would guess most likely Shurhit or Niehoff.

Notice also, the eBay rotor has the drive pin hole located right of center, while the OP's example has the hole left of center. I assume this denotes a difference in rotation, CCW versus CC, or visa versa. I suppose in a pinch, a new hole could be drilled to suit... maybe.

I would contact Tom VanMeeteren here on this forum. He probably has a rotor in stock. Tom is a great source for old ignition parts.

Yes, I have those rotors in stock. The photos that threepedaltapdancer has above me several posts is not the correct rotor. Look at the underside of the rotor and note the placement of the drive pin hole. The rotor and system is a REMY and was used in the late teens to mid to late 20's. Actually, there were 5 different designs of this rotor with different pin locations. Note the correct rotor in the picture.

Hi Tom,
I stand corrected. I guess I just get so used to repairing old stuff that I go first to repair rather than search for them. This may be the result of spending years repairing things that no one is willing to pay for new parts for. I'm glad Henry was able to find what he needed.
