Hello,
We are in Southwest Virginia (Marion) and so far from the coast that I would have never expected to see so much destruction. It is like a horror story. Whole communities washed away. Bridges and roads are gone. Telephones only work now and then and most places still have no power. We were hit by a flood and, of course, have no flood insurance. One of our basement walls collapsed and we are overwhelmed by the work at our house and my mother's house across the street. I got the T to higher ground before the waters came but the Maxwell was in water almost to the top of the engine. My toolboxes are full of mud and water and the houses are the priority anyway. I called garages all over the county trying to get someone to bring the car in to drain all the fluids and, I guess, refill everything to overflowing with diesel and Heet to pull out the moisture. After that, refill everything as they should be. Everyone is covered up by flooded cars and there is no place that can take it. I know that it is a big ask but is there any member nearby that I can pay to take the car and treat it so that it will be okay until I can get to a point that I can do the less urgent work that it needs. I know that it is a long shot but I thought I would ask. There my not be anyone who is close enough to help out. Anyway, I hope that the other members were safe during this horrible 6 state disaster.
God Bless.

Re: Request for help after hurricane
Sorry. I know what you are going through. I lived in central Virginia in 1969 when Camille came and dumped 24" of rain, flooding our basement, scarred the Blue Ridge Mountains, sweeping away 150 people, cutting off all bridges and roads and telephone lines in a large area. The outside world did not know what happened for three days, no rescue services. But we helped others. I now live in New Orleans and went through Katrina.

Re: Request for help after hurricane
This is a truly terrible disaster that is crushing thousands of people. The amazing aspect of these situations are the incredible people that show up and who step up to try to make things better any way they can.
No group better that the old car gangs who seem to naturally reach helping hands out at every opportunity.
The situation must be fully overwhelming and I hope the recovery process goes as well as possible for you and every other soul that has been impacted by Helene.
Bless you all.
