Anyone ever put a cherry bomb on their T?

It should fit, but the inlet is 2 inches, so you have to enlarge, not reduce, the connection with the exhaust pipe.
Do they make a 1 1/2 inch to 2 inch adapter that would fit or do you have to have it made?
Exhaust parts are always measured by ID and OD, so it makes it hard to find a piece that fits.

I believe O'Reilly's has a selection of size adapters, clamps, etc. My T has a glass pack of some kind on it, and it works well. No popping back on downhills and it has a pleasant sound, though it probably isn't quite authentic. Longer mufflers will be quieter, and putting a short tailpipe on the muffler will further quiet it. The muffler on mine is in the stock location, and I put a tailpipe on it that's about 16" long.

Not a cherry bomb, but I bought a ford tractor muffler from tractor supply. It's the correct size pipe, so no adapter fittings. it is straight through so low back pressure and easy to fashion a tailpipe to extend out the back. Not expensive. It is a little louder but I like it.

The OD of a Model T exhaust pipe is 1-1/2 inches
So is the 2 inch measurement is an ID of the Cherry Bomb SUM-630850 both inlet & outlet
Mufflers are listed in inside diameter for the inlet and outlet so the OD of the pipe can slide into it.

In any case, I'd take what you got to a muffler shop, they have tools to expand pipe and make things fit.

Pat what you have on your car is a cherry bomb glass pack,you can turn it around and it changes the noise.

Hi there, Bill! The muffler gives a smooth, even purr just as it is. The car is still running great. I will be replacing the tires soon, however. I've worn two of them to the cord, and have only had 1 flat in over 15,000 miles. It seems that a T will run a lot of trouble-free miles on modern oil if it's in good shape to start with. I stay on 2 lane pavement most of the time, but have to drive at least six miles on dirt to get to pavement, so an air filter is a must, in my opinion. I got a Garmin like you have in order to keep accurate track of miles, speeds, etc.

Personally, I can think of only three reasons why a person would want to use a glass pack muffler on a Model T: #1 Price (if a glass pack is cheaper than any other replacement muffler), #2 if they want a louder muffler because they are hard of hearing (as a young boy, I knew a very senior widow lady who couldn't hear her car start with the stock muffler, so her son put glass packs on her 56 Ford sedan. When she would start it up and race the motor, you could hear her from blocks away). #3 If the owner wants a low restriction muffler thinking it will improve performance.

If a glass pack or low restriction muffler is desired and you don't want to have to use pipe reducers or adapters, look at motorcycle mufflers. A lot of Harley-Davidson sportsters, Hondas, and Triumphs use a 1 1/2" inlet muffler. Google 1 1/2" inlet motorcycle muffler to find.

An older Ford tractor muffler works OK. You may have to use adapters to fit to the exhaust pipe but the muffler is pretty close to T muffler.

Professor Fate's secret recipe for a straight thru shotgun muffler....

From the stock t exhaust pipe, one inch and a half to two inch flare, welded to eighteen
inches of two inch pipe, with another inch and a half to two inch flare turned around with the small
side inserted and welded to the exit end of the two inch pipe. These three parts
are on the shelf at your local auto parts store. I paid $25 or so for these parts.

I found that this assembly lacked the backpressure needed to climb hills as good as a regular
muffler car. I solved the issue by stacking 3/4 in nuts on a long thin bolt at the exit. Thru
experimenting I found the right amount of exit restriction. Car is loud, and scoots along,
and up hills very well.... the tractor muffler I expect will do the same if you don't want to experiment.

If you run it straight thru you will be lacking power and a ability to climb hills.

The purpose of asking this question is because I do want to make noise. It is for a speedster.

The tractor muffler FO-11 is very quiet even though it is a straight shot and you can see right thru it.

I have a friend who does not use a muffler, just a straight pipe and his car is not loud.

The speedster is red, so a cherry bomb muffler would look good on it.

It would be neat to have an exhaust like Humble Howard's Lucky 7, but that is not going to happen.

I had a glasspack on my speedster but the sound was kind of sickly. I now have a 3 inch pipe and I should have gone 4. An auger takes some of the sharpness out but it drones. I installed this a baffle for a motorcycle pipe and it’s a lot smoother.

The muffler on my car sounds good. Low, smooth purr, no droning, no popping.

Put a straight thru resonator on once, these are short length, and both ends were 1.5" so no adapters needed.

Gave a nice low note, sounded hearty, with the tip down, on pavement you could hear the bounce sound, and on dirt roads would kick up dust from the turn down pipe!
