This came off an old engine that I saved out of the woods last year. Been sitting for about 40 years. Apparently there was a popular outlet named Swastika Motor & Cycle Works

Never knew that the symbol meant anything else other than the obvious, Hitler and Nazi Germany.

Thousands of years before the swastika was appropriated by the Nazi’s, it was a very positive religious symbol and a symbol of good will. Unfortunately, thanks to the Nazi’s, it will forever be associated with evil and one of the darkest chapters in human history.

The earliest known swastikas are from 10,000 BCE
The word swastika comes from Sanskrit: स्वस्तिक, romanized: svastika, meaning 'conducive to well-being'.
In Hinduism, the right-facing symbol (clockwise) (卐) is called swastika, symbolizing surya ('sun'), prosperity and good luck, while the left-facing symbol (counter-clockwise) (卍) is called sauvastika, symbolising night or tantric aspects of Kali.
In Jain symbolism, it is the part of the Jain flag. It represents Suparshvanatha – the seventh of 24 Tirthankaras (spiritual teachers and saviours).
In Buddhist symbolism it represents the auspicious footprints of the Buddha.
In the different Indo-European traditions, the swastika symbolises fire, lightning bolts, and the sun.
The symbol is found in the archaeological remains of the Indus Valley civilisation and Samarra, as well as in early Byzantine and Christian artwork.
Most non-Zazi have the symbol square either (卍) or (卐) while the traditional Nazi symbol is a the right-facing symbol rotated 45degrees. Unfortunately the "good" symbols are interpreted as the "bad" since the 1930's
The past is a great place and I don't want to erase it or to regret it, but I don't want to be its prisoner either.
