Older aluminum Warford oil capacity

Post by Jim11787 » Sun Apr 27, 2025 3:29 pm

Looking to change the oil in the Warford transmission. This is an older aluminum unit. Does anyone know the capacity so I know how much to order?
Thanks

Here is older forum post on quantity:

Warford original 2 or 3 speed aluminum case, in ether case would be up to bottom of fill opening.
My original cast iron 3 speed took between 2 and 3+ pints as I recall, I just put in till got to level I suggested above.

You don’t have to order oil. It’s 85w140 and every place has it.

Do some research on what to use. I restored one & used 600 wt model a lube. Ran quiet & shifted well.

Thanks Dan. I found that post also when using search function but it didn’t state quantity for the aluminum case. I assume it’s similar and get a quart.

Thanks. That’s what I was thinking of using from using the search function.
