Is there a video for a step by step instructions for installing a Layne 3 speed Warford transmission?

I didn't find anything on YouTube in a quick search, didn't it come with instructions? Guess if you have questions you could ask them or here on the forum. Should install the same way as the original. Do a search using just Warford, such as: MTFCA; Warford.

I think those questions might best be answered by the folks at Layne. Following other's advice, then potentially having issues, will not make Layne happy to come to your aid.

I guess I should had mentioned first, I have not yet bought the transmission, I wanted a instructional video to see what I'm up against before buying the transmission to make sure its something I'm able to do on my own.

Here are installation copies from about 20 years ago. I've installed 2 in my own cars, 1 about 3 months ago. If you have questions call Steve 701 212 5009

As the above posted Layne instructions show and state, the drive shaft and tube must be shortened and rewelded to remove 12 inches, if I'm not mistaken, and the rear radius rods must be shortened and rewelded the appropriate, stated amount. I'm not sure if the Layne instructions specify that a crossmember support for the Warford must be installed, but it is always a good idea. I think Layne used to offer a service of shortening the driveshaft and tube and, maybe, the radius rods, too. I don't know if they still do.

FYI. A little off topic, but.
I have an old ledger from a Ford dealership in Tn.
It list the cars people bought along with an item they bought.
Strange is when they added a Ruckstell there was no labor charge to install.
However, when they bought a Warfords there was a labor charge to install it.

Dan, I assume that because the Ruckstell under drive was an approved accessory for the Ford car and the Warford was not.

Yes, The drive shaft and tube must be shortened. IF you purchase new, you can send the tube & shaft to the factory, and they will shorten for free.

BUT, you're on your own for the radius rods.

At least that was the way things were a few years ago.

Just a note: I sure LOVE my modern Warford. With the true neutral, I am able to start up without worrying about the "model T creep". It also eliminates almost all drag on the engine when starting. A GREAT thing when hand cranking.

More than likely it was because they could have a Ruckstell sitting there ready and Warfords took a lot more work.
What with cutting off the tube and driveshaft ect.
