Help with private messages?

Post by Steve Jelf » Mon Jun 16, 2025 11:37 pm

My private messages are full. I see how to mark them, but how can I delete the marked ones?

At the bottom right you will see 'Mark/unmark as important'. Click on that and you have the option to delete marked. Then click go.

Thanks. Now I am not allowed to see "messages that are on hold."
I'm too stupid for life in the Digital Age. :(

Steve,

I know exactly how you feel! Have comfort in the fact: You're NOT the only one.

Good Luck

So how do you "Release all on-hold messages…"?
I don't seem to be getting any smarter.

Steve,

Do you see a color bar on the left and right of the message? To the LEFT of the message list, there is a legend that explains what each color means.

In the bottom right corner of the page, is a Mark Unmark box and a Go box. I am able to choose a message by clicking on the box in the far right side of the message box. I am able to choose the mark unmark, or another action there, then click the Go box to execute the desired action.

I had to play with the boxes until I got what I wanted done.

My thoughts are; the messages got "saved" or put on "hold". Now, you have to take the hold off first and then delete them.

I am not seeing anything about HOLD on the messages. I had to check EACH message to perform the chosen action then GO to get it executed.

100%"Hold Messages" are PM messages that are temporarily stored in a special folder when a mail box is 100% full. You need to delete saved messages first. Once you have freed up space phpBB (this is the MTFCA Forum application) will automatically sort these held messages into the appropriate folders (either the inbox or the sent items folder, depending on whether the message was sent or received). So you can't delete them while they are in a hold status.
Now you may need to repeat the process several times to free up the messages on hold
Don't forget to press the "GO" button to delete the marked ones.
