Great Gatsby Gala Ball - Model T Ford Indoors!

Post by ModelTMitch » Mon Nov 17, 2025 4:27 am

So the coolest thing happened a few months ago. I was formally invited to attend a local Great Gatsby Gala Ball. :D
The coolest part - I was specifically asked if I would put my Model T on display in the foyer of the Club where this is to be held. This will be the first time my Model T has been indoors, aside from the shed she lives in normally - and now hundreds of people will be able to appreciate her 1920's charm.

So, I could hardly show up to a Gatsby themed Gala Ball in just my jeans and a t-shirt, So I spashed out on a tuxedo, some cotton gloves and a period gentleman's walking cane (for looks only!!)

So stay tuned, I will endeavor to put together a video of the event!

In the meantime, here's a short video, outlining the small "modification" I made to my Model T, to attach a temporary "portable oil tray", so the venue doesn't end up with jet black oil all over their nice new carpet!!

I always get drips under the differential and below the king pins on the front axle. Maybe a couple pieces of cardboard on the innerside of the front wheels would cover those.

Perhaps some of those oil soak naps covering the surface of your hanging pan will prevent oil from spilling off the sides.

I've always been fortunate with my Model T, the only oil drips are from the gearbox under the hogshead, nowhere else has ever dripped. :D
So anyways, Lizzie is now all shined up and ready for her Great Gatsby debut tomorrow night! :)

All shiny and ready for the Great Gatsby Gala Ball.

My wonderful girlfriend and I, enjoying ourselves greatly, at the Great Gatsby Gala Ball, raising money for the Great Lakes Womens Shelter — sheltering and giving hope to women and children, the victims of domestic and family violence. My Model T fit in nicely with the 1920s theme of the event.

It is especially good to see a Model T helping to support a good cause. You, your girlfriend and the car all look fantastic.
