Post by David Payton » Mon Jan 19, 2026 6:35 pm

I think, some how my New Day timer brush got bent some how when it was disconnected while I was lightly hand cranking the engine by hand.

I think I've answered my own question by an earlier photo that I took of my timer's brush two weeks ago.

One photo shows a bent brush. The next one is not a factory brush.

Strange.Never saw that before. How about a photo of the front and back of your cap....I'm curious if you have an original or a repop. If the latter, there are good ones and bad ones and it is important to know the difference.

An original cap is brown and there is a small square hole in each of the contacts (see photo) - anything else is a repop.

If you need to replace the brush, avoid the $10 ones sold by Snyders....they won't last as long as those sold by Tip Top timers and included in the kits sold by most vendors.
