Transmission Band Variety Pack

Post by CatGuy » Thu Mar 19, 2026 10:30 am

I’ve read about others mixing things up and using different types of band lining in there car’s transmission. Is there a dealer that lets you buy one of each or are folks just buying three sets to do this?

With the disappearance of Scandinavia cotton linings the choice is now between wood and kevlar unless you find NOS in the ad section. You’d need to have a set of each to mix and match. I doubt if vendors break up sets.

Some suppliers will sell individual bands of the types they sell in sets.
Langs does sell individuals (Kevlar listed online)
Snyders does not list individuals (Kevlar and Wood listed online)
Chaffins does not list individuals (Kevlar, Cotton, and Scandanavia listed online)
Wearever does sometimes sell individuals if asked (Kevlar) - I see him @ his stand @ Luray and Hershey
Ecklers (Macs) - I am never sure what they have or have not

It is up to the seller to determine if they sell individual bands (and just rivets) or not.
And just because it is or is not in the catalog does not determine what is available at the moment.
Not everything they sell is listed in the catalog or online. Some things are too low of volume to be worth the effort of listing it.
It is a very mixed bag and typically mixed band sets in cars is caused by a band failure in service and replacing with what is on hand.

My '26 Touring has a mixed up band set due to a band failure while on tour in 2018 (the hills got me) and it has been the way I left it for 8 years now.
If you want part of a set you sometimes have to ask

If you just need the band rivets Langs should have them. Last time I checked in two different lengths, which is great for those linings that are a bit thicker.
I know the voices aren't real but damn they have some good ideas!
