Ford on parts

Post by Dan Hatch » Sun Mar 23, 2025 11:42 am

Took the water outlet off my 16 to fix hose leak.
Outlet looks thicker wall so compared to some NOS I have.
NOS ones don’t have Ford on them and thinner wall.
I think I remember that Ford was not put on parts till later. If so when? Could this be a reproduction? Most late repro are bronze, this cast iron.

I believe it was in the late teens that Ford was taking notice of spurious parts being produced for the Model T and began "scripting" most if not all
replacement parts - I believe it's stated in the Service Bulletins.

Early 1919, the first 2 issues of the 1919 Service Bulletins expound a great deal about spurious and inferior parts. The first one that comes to mind for me is that was when they started stamping the Ford script onto the front cross member (early to mid-1919).
