1925 California License Plate

Post by Original Smith » Thu Jan 23, 2020 11:33 am

On a recent tour, I was given a pair of 1925 California commercial plates. They are red with white letters which I've never seen. The standard plates for 1925 are yellow with black letters. I decided to contact a license plate collector for an answer. His reply was my plates were made specifically for trucks with solid rubber tires. Nice to know.

Interesting. I had seen a pair many years back, and never knew what they were for.
Thank you Larry "O" S !

Later the commercial plates were the same color as passenger plates. The were either marked SC for Solid Commercial or PC for Pneumatic Commercial. Trucks with solid rubber tires paid much higher rates as the solid rubber tires damaged the highways.
