Glass Visor for open car FS $150

Post by colonelpowers » Wed Mar 27, 2024 8:42 pm

This visor came off of an unrestored 26 Touring and was probably only the old car for its entire life. It is in very nice condition and complete with original paint and glass. I can't decide what color the glass actually is. On the car I always thought it was black but looking through it at my shop lights it had a green hue. Either way it is very dark and you can't really see through it when driving.

I am a little reluctant to ship it but I could probably make a light wood and cardboard crate to ship it safely. I couldn't find one that had sold on the forum to compare prices but I would take $300 for it plus shipping. I would consider trades for interesting original T accessories for our new 26 Fordor. I don't have anything specific in mind but I would consider anything neat.

I apologize for the sorry pictures that our tablet takes. If you want better ones I can send them from my wife's cell phone.

Thanks and God bless.

I have been lookning for a visor for my studebaker for several years. The problem is that most of the ones i find are model T size.
Is this one adjustable in any way for wider cars?

Looking at the photo, it looks like it is adjustable. Do you have a way to estimate the widest it can be?

Thanks

It is a little hard to get an exact measurement since there is adjustment where the side brackets mount to the visor and where the clamp brackets mount to the side brackets. Here is my best figures. The visor itself is 42 inches wide and each side bracket can be adjusted out about 1 1/8 inch further or 2 1/4 total inches wider. Depending on the actual width of the cars windshield posts the clamp brackets will reduce that total width by about 1 inch on each side, give or take a little. The clamp measurement would be measuring to the center line of the windshield post. I didn't have a camera handy to show how I was measuring but if it is close I can do a little better. I would say that from the center of one windshield post to the other, the visor would fit anywhere from 40 to maybe 42 1/4. It might go a hair smaller or wider but not much.

Linus, if this one does not measure up, I have an all brass, nickel plated one, with no glass, so it could be posted. I am away with grand children until Sunday, but I can send photos when I get home. It is a bit upmarket for my T's

$150 to get it out of my way. I don't want to ship it at this price.
