WTB: Differencial case, I'm desperate

Post by bmklawt » Fri Dec 16, 2022 6:37 pm

I am in desperate need of a differential case for my 1927 Touring I am on my 5th one and still haven't found a suitable replacement. My original was wallowed out at the spider, two were cracked, one rusted beyond use and the last is just worn out, 3 of these were out of complete axles I bought hoping to find what I need but no such luck. I'm frustrated

Your help is greatly appreciated,
Bruce

What do you mean wollowed out at the spider? The 3 holes the arms of spider fit in or where the spider gears rub on the case?
I know the voices aren't real but damn they have some good ideas!

Do not throw those cases out, they can be sleeved to fit axle gears.

Don't get discouraged ,If you can't find a good original all most anything can be repaired . Take all your rear ends to a pro ,they can or really you can build one good one from all the parts . Most complete rear end rebuild with new bearings and gears is around 1500.00 and it will last long after your gone . If you have not seen the three dvds the club put out on restoration of the rear end ,it will help a lot . Good luck and remember this is supposed to be fun . I sometimes have to remined myself .

Bob's use to rebuild these. I do not know if he still does. Does not hurt to call.

Thanks all for the reply's and offers, I contacted a few of you, I'm sure I'll come up with something.
I do have and read, watched the service manual, rear end book and have the DVDs.
Here is some of what I have been dealing with. The one on the left came out of my car.
