Re: Want To Buy - 280 Lift Stipe Cam Shaft
Not much for cams out there. Been looking as well. Hard to pay $500 for a simple low lift 4 cylinder cam. I’m used to BIG V8 solid roller cams that don’t cost what these do. When you have such a small market it’s good we have anything I suppose.
Re: Want To Buy - 280 Lift Stipe Cam Shaft
I talked to Stipe recently about cams and they said, yeah, we will get around to making some at some point, but had no hard date. They told me the same thing about a year ago. I think they lost some if not most of their experienced workers and are trying to get back in the groove. I believe they make a lot of things so probably prioritize parts that bring in the most money. Gotta keep the lights on, you know, and Model T camshafts are probably a bit of a niche market. They keep a list of customers who want stuff, so maybe if everyone who wants a 280 camshaft adds their name to the list it might help.

I talked with Bill a while ago also super nice guy. They are behind and lost help. I would put my name on one or two 280 cams.

Re: Want To Buy - 280 Lift Stipe Cam Shaft
I believe there are 2 different 280'S. There is the 280 & the 280 super. The last 2 I installed were the supers. The timing is already optimal, not needing 1/2 degree advance that helps the std 280 preform better.

Re: Want To Buy - 280 Lift Stipe Cam Shaft
No, sorry. I have been buying or having my customers provide them as needed.GatorsModelT wrote: ↑Sat Feb 25, 2023 5:49 pmHey thank you that's good to know do you have one available?
They are to expensive to keep on hand, since until recently they could be had with a phone call.
If I had a foreseeable future need for another, I would have an extra in advance.

Re: Want To Buy - 280 Lift Stipe Cam Shaft
I will show Gator. Looking at the tag, it appears to be a .264 Lift correct? I don't know about that. I will show him.
Thanks, will let you know.

Re: Want To Buy - 280 Lift Stipe Cam Shaft
I'm not aware of a Chaffin's .264 cam and am suspicious that it is their .270 regrind. There were several versions of those, some with better bottom end torque than other versions as they changed the specs a couple times during it's production.

Didn't/doesn't Chaffins sell one with the 7.5 advance built in?
I know the voices aren't real but damn they have some good ideas!

Re: Want To Buy - 280 Lift Stipe Cam Shaft
I have 2 Chaffins regrinds and they do run just a little shy of .270 they are a great mid to low range cam. The ones I have look to have a
different profile the the one pictured. Mine look to have a shorter duration (as in the cam lobe is sharp compared to the one pictured)
I would love to know what the performance of that profile would be. It looks a lot the came my BIL has in one of his cars that performs
very well.
