Cam bearings
Hey guys, does anybody pour babbit in old cam bearing shells? I know new ones are available from langs but I heard they don't fit well without repairing.

Try asking on the general forum, not here in the classifieds.
I know the voices aren't real but damn they have some good ideas!

Re: Cam bearings
Take a hose clamp and tighten old shell, fill it with babbitt, set it in the lathe and bore to size, it is no rocket science on them.

Before you go to that trouble, clamp them together and make sure the OD is somewhere near 1.375/1.373. Old shells are not worth repouring if the parting lines are worn down, making them loose in the block.

Make sure the break in the iron shell looks like a fresh break and is not worn smooth. The little jig is not hard to build.

As Dan said you do want to start with good shells.
