I don't have one, but here is some information on the Abell starter with 1/2" shaft;

There was a problem with the Bendix jamming. Ford issued a service bulletin covering it using a shim between the starter and flywheel housing. If you have a copy of the Model A Service Bulletins is should be covered in them.
