WTB Mercury Body Parts
I have a Mercury speedster body I am restoring. I would like to find the following special parts to go with it.
- aluminum step plates
- steering column lowering brackets
- windshield
Joe Michalek used to reproduce these parts, but is now out. I hope someone has some laying around for a project that never materialized. PM if you can help.

HI Larry, is your model an early No -door model ? Somebody was reproducing the special mounting plate that bolted onto the firewall and made them in aluminum versus the factory steel one that Mercury made. I cannot remember who it was . Maybe Lang's at one time ? -Dusty

Re: WTB Mercury Body Parts
It is a later door model. I will check what Lang's has to offer.
If I were having some these parts cast, is there any interest by others for these parts?

Re: WTB Mercury Body Parts
It was the late Bob Scherzer who cast the lower steering column mount. They were sold through Langs as a speedster steering column mount and never identified as a Mercury copy. I had one around for a while but it now lives in a friends Faultless.

Yeah, I saw that in their catalog. I'll have to see if they are available. This is my lowest priority of the items I listed. The highest priority is the step plates. Lang's lists some step plates, but they aren't the same as Mercury step plates. Would anyone else want a set if I had some made?

Larry- contact Tim Mosher- I think he has a pattern, but lost his foundry. I would be interested in a set as well and know another person as well that might be interested.

Re: WTB Mercury Body Parts
The correct step plates have only a cross hatched pattern and not the Mercury logo like Joe had made.

This is one of the plates from my Mercury. It may well be a reproduction but they’ve been on my car for at least 50 years.

Re: WTB Mercury Body Parts
In his book, Jarvis Erickson says the early ones had no logo and the later ones did. I'm using one of Tim Mosher's very nice front axles. I'll check with him.
