Re: WTB valve lifters non adjustable
Peter, the oversize need may be overcome by having an engine reconditioner fit K liners to the valve guides. These are then reamed to size in-situ. This is a common procedure in modern engine rebuilds

Re: WTB valve lifters non adjustable
Allan, The size of the guides is not the problem, yes I could have the guides changed with liners but that still leaves me with the fact it appears to be impossible now to purchase "any" lifters at the moment, the adjustable ones are now not available and non adjustable ones have not been available for several years even though some parts suppliers still list them as available!!!!
This open valve motor is in excellent condition and if possible I would like to have it completed with non adjustable lifters if possible. My thought was someone may have a set and would more than likely use an adjustable set if their engine was not an open valve one. If someone has a set of non adjustable ones I would pay the cost of adjustable lifters for them.
Other alternatives are - a set of adjustable ones and put in ends to make them look to be the original type, or last on the list just use adjustable ones if and when they become available.

Will these do?

I believe there's also a Ford Y-Block flat, solid tappet. They're commonly used in NRS cars. Like the tractor tappets, they need to be shortened, which also removes the spherical socket.

Re: WTB valve lifters non adjustable
Problem solved, have found a set of adjustable lifters correct size, will use these. This motor will be kept in storage as the motor in the car is running perfectly at the moment. That motor is later (enclosed valve) but having found the correct open valve motor for the car it was a no brainer to purchase it and rebuild.

Re: WTB valve lifters non adjustable
I have a set of .015 oversize Ford NOS I picked up at Hershey several years ago, they had some rust over the years but polished up pretty good. They run about .449-.450, 5 are marked Ford 426 AR E,1 is marked just ford and the last 2 no markings at all. Not the prettiest but if you like them we can get them to you. Jim
