FS: Set of 4 Aftermarket K. E. Co Spark Coils SOLD

FS: 4 aftermarket ignition coils, marked "K. E. Co" on the points. These are interesting because the iron core is made up of 3 small bars instead of one large one. Whether this is to improve performance or cut costs I don't know, but I suspect the latter (perhaps these are some of the "Spurious Parts" that Henry warned us about.) Used, untested. The wood is in fair condition, not perfect. Asking $20 for the whole set.

I believe more, thinner bars or wires in the iron core acts to reduce induced current losses in the core. So more would be better, but even a solid bar would work.

I have seen two types of core. Usually it is made of a whole bundle of small diameter soft wire. Cheaper more modern replacements had a number of thin strips of metal bundled together. Probably this was a cheaper way of manufacturing the coils.

I save the bundles of short soft wires from defunct coils. They make ideal ties to group small components together for storage.
