unknown tool

Post by Tom VanMeeteren » Wed May 08, 2024 9:05 am

I have had this tool for probably 30+ years and no one has been able to positively ID it. It's 11 inches long with a wood handle and was owned by "M" at one time. Manufacture is an L inside a diamond in the casting.

I’d think in this case a picture could actually paint a thousand words.

Tom, that tool looks remarkably similar to the other two in your stash. :)

I'm guessing it's for scooping slag off of your molten babbit.

I thought I loaded pictures, but then never checked back. I had it at our local model T meeting last night and no one knew for sure what it is. Lots o guesses. Don't believe it is for scooping slag, the cup area is only about 1 1/2" not much room.

I think it's for scraping hides.

I have the exact same one. I always assumed it was for something used when babbitting.
