Got them. Want to buy Rocky Mountain brake pad only
On a tour my drivers side rear brake must have been too tight and it got hot and cought on fire.
I need either a Rocky Mountain brake pad or the pad and the metal it is riveted to.
If you have one or know where to get one, please let me know.
The Rocky Mountain Brake Company is not operating at this time and may or may not ever.
Thank you,
Frank Seress

Mc Master carr sells a great woven replacement. Specify width, thickness & length.
I prefer this material to the hard solid linings as installed originally.

If you are going to reline one shoe, the other should be done with the same material, or you may have different braking forces due to different co-efficients of friction in brake lining materials at the two wheels.

Not to hijack this thread, but what has happened to the Rocky Mountain Brake Co.? Illness, retirement, wildfires, worse?
Thanks.

I relined my Rockies with the McMaster Carr woven. Stops great but was wearing groves into the drum. 26-27. Removed it and got molded lining from Chaffins. They carry several kinds.

A friend of mine just spoke to Bud's son, apparently Bud has been diagnosed with Dementia but his son intends on continuing the business from what my friend understood.

Re: Want to buy Rocky Mountain brake pad only
Wondering which lining you got as the brass wire should not have been hard enough to wear grooves in the drums? Did you not counter sink the rivets, which I could see as being the reason for the grooves. And yes, you can counter sink the rivets on woven lining.
I would not use any type of hard lining on pressed steel drums only cast iron. It has been said over and over again to only use woven lining on that type of drum.
I know the voices aren't real but damn they have some good ideas!
