Wanted - Oil Pan for 1925 Roadster

I'm looking for an oil pan in good useable shape. I'm in Cheyenne so from Denver north would be a reasonable driving distance.

Do your self a favor, get a 4 dip.
But what ever you get, put it on a pan jig before you use it.

Because a 3dip was on it originally. Not because of my experience as I'm just barely past novice stage.

It is a true 25. The block is the only thing that I know was original.

So I need a 4 dip.

Four dip pans are weaker than 3 dip pans. If you don’t have provisions to bolt the top of the transmission cover to the back of the block (lugs on the hogshead and bolt holes on the back of the block water jacket like ‘26 & ‘27 had), then you really should stick with the 3 dip pan for better rigidity. Ford made a number of “fixes” to the flexibility issue with the four dip pans after they initially began using them. The final solution was bolting the hogshead to the back of the block to solve the problem.

Unfortunately, people see the four dip pans as “ better” because they allow easier access to the fourth connecting rod but are usually unaware of the tradeoff in terms of flexibility and longevity issues.

I agree with Adam's assessment regarding the rigidity of the 3 dip c.c. - 4 dips are more prone to distortion from front end collisions and frame twisting.

It's a roadster, not a sedan or TT. 4 dip will work fine, and is correct.

Interesting that after years of posts about piles going to scrap, that we now see a post wanting a pan in an area so close to Denver, where Henry had a factory. I have been saying for years that we best not think parts are plentiful and everywhere.
Twenty years ago Dave Huson in Berthoud Co. had a lot of parts that he was posting for sale. Some of his pictures showed stacks of pans and blocks. Someone in the area should look into this and make sure they don't go away.
I created a state of the art pan jig that has anchor points and thread driven attachments to push and pull the snout, fourth main, and arms into perfect alignment with minimal need for beating. It also can correct a hump or dip in the pan flange. Shipping of course, is an issue.
