It could be possible that the one with the dot is a later one and needs to match a ring gear with a dot as well.

Hi Frank,
To the best of my knowledge that is that dot is a hardness test mark I certainly hope its not as I have never seen a ring gear with a dot?
Every ford script pinion I have seen I believe has that dot. It is also on the other end of the gear.
Craig.

To the top. All of the pits in the Ford script pinion are in the pics. They do not appear to be rust or flaking. looks to have been run long after
they where made.

Hello Craig, we haven't spoken for quite a while. I'm looking forward to an update. I would like to buy the one on the left.
