Re: WTB 1913 timing gear cover
Steve, if it helps, the last incarnation of a non generator timing cover had an open land around the camshaft which allows the fitting of a modenr lip type oil seal. Someone on the forum also machines the earlier covers to do the same.

This one is correct for year and available. It can be modified for a modern seal as Allan mentioned above. $40 plus $8.50 domestic shipping. Mark Chaffin (951)805-0928

Re: WTB 1913 timing gear cover
Steven, I forgot to mention that the crankshaft seal grove on the last of the non generator covers also has the wider groove, which takes the fat, white A model crankshaft seal.

Re: WTB 1913 timing gear cover
While the oil seal at both the cam and crank shaft would be better for more modern seal applications using the later covers, the oil filler spout would be wrong. The 1913 would take the shorter fill spout. If that is not a concern, go with the later style.
The short oil fill spout is also what is used with the Bosch magneto setup.
From the https://www.mtfca.com/encyclopedia/:
3009B (690B) First used a timer with an integral oil spout. Later (apparently in late 1911 or early 1912) the standard type replaced it. Fan adjustment screw was now on the right side of the engine. 1913-1916 Similar to the 1912 but the filler spout was a bit longer and pointed at the bottom, allowing the resulting hole to be larger. 1917-1925 (Non-starter cars) Similar to 1916 but with heavier casting, most noticeable on the bottom edge. (Similar to the later, starter-type casting but without the generator mount.) The filler spout was made even longer. Used on non-starter cars only after 1918. 1919-1925
3009C (690C) Similar to above but modified to allow for generator mount. 1926-1927 Similar to 1925 but no boss for fan adjustment screw. (Early production engines had the screw boss but it was not drilled and tapped.)

I know the voices aren't real but damn they have some good ideas!

Re: WTB 1913 timing gear cover
I've always had good luck finding 1915 timing gear covers. They still have the short filler spout and will accept the modern seal.

Re: WTB 1913 timing gear cover
FWIW, a later cover is a better choice, as it’s nigh unto impossible to fabricate an original type felt seal for a 1913 cover. What Larry said !
