Hey Mark, what are the ring grooves on these pistons? And I probably shouldn't ask but are there any know issues/problems with RayDay pistons vs "modern" replacement pistons. Just wondering why they haven't been snatched up yet?
Thanks, Chris

I believe they take the standard 1/8 inch rings. They are pretty stout construction. They have not been available for decades. Not sure why the lack of interest. Maybe folks know something I don't. If so, they are welcome to share their opinions good or bad.

Mark,

I am sure that there are some folks concerned about over boring to 0.100" due to the fact that on more "modern" engines you can not overbore that much. You can't go that far on "modern" engines is beat into a lot of peoples heads.
But I (myself) am not jumping on this because in spite of needing new pistons for several future project rebuilds I have planned because I do not know what size I am going to need.
I do not like going any larger than the block actually needs so I wait to get pistons until I know what I need.
Size specific parts are a harder sell than universal.

This is a really good deal for someone, just not me.
That is my opinion/style.
Mike

Model A Fords are often bored out to .100, and sometimes even to .125. However, model T cylinder castings are usually a bit thinner than the more robust later model A, and .100 is considered by many to be the maximum for a model T. Over the years, more than a few model T blocks bored beyond .060 have failed due to severe rust in the water jackets.

These pistons could probably be machined to fit a lesser oversize, although ring groove would have to be taken into consideration.
