Who is allowed on forums?
Why are people who are not club members allowed to post on forums?
On the off topic page there is thread about ID car. The original poster is fine, the last post ( one before me) put a link to an old movie wanting I’d on another car. Goes to some Russian site I think. I then looked at poster just joined two days ago.
Why does club pay for web site for non members?

Non-members are potential members, or new or potential new T hobbyists. (?)
Not every "outsider" is obnoxious.

Agreed! And some "insiders" are obnoxious.

Not thinking of anyone in particular

Why are we paying for a forum for non-members? To educate owners & would-be owners and to teach the history and lore of the Model T Ford. As a non-profit organization, one of our requirements is to promote education.

Putting out the welcome mat is good... although a few people will take a d**p on it.

Re: Who is allowed on forums?
But wait! I am a club member (and, heaven help us, a lifetime member) and I work SOOOO hard to make sure I am not terribly obnoxious... yet sometimes, when I see obvious nonsense, I call people on it. I have been told (nasty words deleted) for doing so... but to me, something in this hobby SHOULD remain honest and pure.
I would honestly prefer the FB BSers go ontheir way and go back to their "games".... I certainly hope the MTFCA does NOT cave to such sentiments, as that would both break my heart, but break my spirit. I also understand, however, that a lot of "members" think that this is the way our club should go. To me, it is an anathema, but I know also our group of T purists are shrinking day by day.
I just felt the need to post this, as when I start seeing our folk espousing incorrect info and saying it is the Word of Henry... it kinda sorta hurts. Because it was almost like Gospel to me, for the past 50 years, and seeing people kaakaa on it, welllllll.....
Enough said.
Except... I am still looking for t over here. It's as if the whole hobby found out I moved and deliberately dried up. But if you know of one... Please give me a shout. No, I'm not looking for some $20K (or €20k) trailer queen... I just want something running with 3 pedals and well, you know.

Re: Who is allowed on forums?
It seems to me that most regulars here make every effort to be accurate when offering information and advice. Obviously inaccurate information usually draws a correction. Preaching exclusively to the choir, so to speak, usually avoids controversy, but it sure limits the audience numbers. From time to time, someone, somewhere, will acquire their first T, whether by inheritance, an impulse buy, or realizing a long held dream. Some of these folks are without any Model T experience. Personally, I think it's very positive that such persons can come here for personal advice, information, and encouragement from the most experienced and knowledgeable group of Ford T owners/operators/parts vendors/historians, and service people in the world.

Re: Who is allowed on forums?
Looking at the pie chart and how the clubs' expenses break down of money received from dues that was published in the last issue of the Vintage Ford, I would say that the 1% that goes to the web page is cheap advertising and good will.
I know the voices aren't real but damn they have some good ideas!

Re: Who is allowed on forums?
Hi Pat,
You are completely correct on both counts!
I continue to say that we have the greatest folks in the world in our hobby, but even in this hobby a very small percentage that show up are "not so great". They generally stick out like sore thumbs, never fitting in. ALL should be welcome in the beginning.
God Bless
Bill
