Windshield Rubber Cushion

It’s been to many years since I installed the rubber cushion on the lower half of my 26 Roadster windshield. Can you install it with the glass in place?

Cushion is not the word! It is called T rubber, and is available .

Yes, you can install it with the glass installed in the windshield frame. However, you'll have to loosen the nuts holding the windshield posts to the body and spread the posts apart enough at the top so that you can slide the windshield up to make a gap for the rubber to slip in.

You may not have enough hands to accomplish this alone, draft a helper if you can.

Not sure I was clear with my question. This is a 26 Roadster, so the bottom half of the windshield will tilt up and give easy access to the rubber. I just don’t remember whether I pushed it in after the glass man installed the glass.

That T rubber is pulled into the slot of the lower frame. No need to remove the seated glass.

May be easier with lower frame out of the T as that piece of rubber can be pesky. Use some silicone paste on the rubber
‘ T ‘ portion to allow it to slip in better. And the channel has to be free of rust and debris too. The ‘T’ enters a oval hole about an inch for either end of the channel, those openings are there for that purpose.

Thanks. That's the info I needed. Looking at the windshield, the areas where the rubber would start to slide in have been filled with paint. I'll clean that out and see how it goes.
