WTB antique air cleaner

I have a foam filter, aside from not looking right, most of the antique air cleaners ive seen go up and towards the exhaust. If anyone is selling one per chance I'd love to buy it.

Edit: I am open for any old cyclone type filters, even off an old tractor or something, I say that cause some of the cleaners I was offered get pricy, don't doesn't have to be the one I listed in the images, it just had to function the same way, I can adapt it to fit.

I have one of these spare but it is the fancy kind from a model L lincoln that has the nickel plated trim strip around the base. That makes them more spendy than the one you have in your photos. I would be happy to sell it to you as my car has the trim piece and I dont need the spare, but they are generally worth about 250 dollars.

Here is a pic of one on a car from the internet, you can see the basic similarity and the ring I was talking about. These have a cas aluminum base that originally threads onto the air intake elbow. The threads are male.

A Dodge Brothers filter from the 1920's (not sure of year) looks similar to the one in the picture that you posted, however, it doesn't have a curved elbow, so it would fit horizontally; not vertically, and wouldn't fit. It fits the intake of a Stromberg OE-1 carburetor, perfectly. I had one but sold it when I sold my Model B intake and exhaust and my OE-1 to a speedster builder.

Hmm, I never thought an air cleaner would be so much, maybe it might be worth finding a rusty old one off a tractor and making it fit. That model l cleaner would be perfect but I can't afford it and I don't want to offend you with what I thought I would have had to pay.

Unless you intend on "off-roading" on a dirt track or you live on a dusty dirt road, why bother ?

There's always debris in the air around traffic, as any motorcycle rider can tell you. A Model T moving at any significant speed will kick up debris on most any paved surface, even away from traffic. In wet weather, road spray will contain grit. Filtered air reduces ring, piston, and cylinder wear significantly and also reduces combustion chamber deposits, particularly on spark plugs and exhaust valves.

Reproduction Air Maze filters are sold for Model A Fords. They won't fit a T, but could be adapted to fit. The Air Maze filter has a wire screen element that can easily be cleaned and re-oiled. Pleated paper filter elements are available in a huge array of sizes and shapes for thousands of applications. Some of these are of s suitable size and shape for use on a T, if you don't mind making your own canister or box and plumbing. You could also make a period-looking cover for one of the vendor foam filters from a bean can or tomato sauce can.
