Model A crank in a T engine. Question regarding timing.
Of those who installed an A crank into their T, how were you able to set the A crank to the T cam (gears) timing? Please list all timing changes you had to make. Thank you much.

Re: Model A crank in a T engine. Question regarding timing.
The snout of the A crank must be machined down to the T dimensions and the T timing gear used. The timing gear keyway basically needs to be extended into the proper location, and the original remaining portion of the keyway filled and machined as it now makes up the front seal surface. No special timing considerations needed... assuming all machine work was done correctly

thank you Kevin but my question has more to do with putting the A crank gear (mark) inline with the T cam shaft gear (mark) for proper valve timing.

Kevin is quite correct so you align the timing mark on the crank gear to the "0" on the cam gear - no different than timing a T set-up - the "A" fires the same 1243.

Re: Model A crank in a T engine. Question regarding timing.
You appear to think that you use the A crank gear- you use a T crank gear, and as Kevin said above, you extend the existing crank gear keyway farther back on the crank nose after you shorten the front main journal . The centerline of the crank gear keyway is in line with the #1 and #4 rod journal and hence, inline with TDC on both a model A and model T, so nothing gets modified in the relationship of the gears to the existing keyway other than axial location.
