Resonable priced 1915

I have no interest in this ad or the car but I thought someone on the forum may be interested. It is a 1915 touring car and looks complete and original, down to the wheels. It will need some TLC, but not a complete restoration.

A very good deal if the wood is still pretty solid and the engine is a 15. Would need to look close to see.

Square felloe wheels are not correct for 1915.

Might be a 1916 judging by the black headlight rims.

That's fairly close to us here in Chesapeake, and also an easy trip from the Richmond area. I'll see if any of our T folks in the area know of it and can provide additional info/photos.

Not sure if they're black or just extremely tarnished. also not sure why the lights, hood, etc. are removed in the 2nd photo.

It's a nice start for a car, but like John said, I'd have to look at it pretty closely, and it would take some work to make it correct... At least it has the second wishbone under the front end! I'd want to see both the engine and body numbers, see exactly what they have.

If I was looking for another T touring car I'd look into it. I get a kick out of the ad where it says Transmission: Automatic. The Massachusetts registry of Motor Vehicles decided that the planetary transmission in my '27 was an automatic as well.

In the ad the man says its a "last brass car" which would be a 1916 of course.

Not all people know the difference between 1915 and 1916 and may think that 1915 was the last brass car or may think that a 1916 is a 1915 car. I am kind of curious to learn if anyone checks this car out and what they find. Since I have no intention of buying it, I am not going to bother the owner with questions.

Neil: Thank you for the listing and interest - to answer your questions:

The engine is a 1915, vin#797606 (May, 1915) on motor (will confirm, on the title)

I started to do a limited restore and was removing the top (mouse disease - hole) as well as the radiator (didn't mention that I have a new one to include at a very reasonable price) - the old radiator is reliable but showing its age - body parts appear to be good, not rusted out - the brass lights were not on the car when photographed, they are included, need lots of porish/buffing

Don't believe a 1916 had brass but recall checking the vin against the year

Have had advice from a Richmond, Va MFTCA old timer who suggested a price of 11K which I thought too high - he thinks I should run it like it is but I couldn't leave it alone - if no one interested, will be glad to sell the 1918 instead

I am new to the Model T, just learning and have limited experience with them - as mentioned, I also have a 1918 and 1930 town sedan - am really enjoying the old Fords (in past restored 60's sports cars) but to start on the 1915 is one project too many and it is more desireable so easier to sell and I need not get too involved - both the 15 and 18 are "survivors" not old show cars - I have an extra 1920 motor/transmission with rebuilt starter, alternator, NH carb which might be available also (haven't run it) although would like to put in the 18

Didn't mention it but have extra parts, manuals, etc which I would include to some worthy owner to help him get started

Just too many projects, over extended and pushing 80 so must clean up my act
