1919 roadster top question

Post by cdmazz » Sat Sep 26, 2020 3:49 pm

Redoing the top on my '19 Roadster and never thought about why there are two mounting holes on the center bow for the front top bow pins. What is the purpose of this arrangement and which holes should the front bow pins be in when the top is up? Looks like the top holes but ... I have only had the top up a couple of times in 40 odd years and just never paid attention to this detail.
Thanks.

The front bow pin goes in the top hole when the top is up and in the bottom hole when the top is folded down. That way the front bow doesn't stick out so far behind the seat when folded down.
I hope I am understanding your question.
Rich
When did I do that?

Yes you got it right. Now that I see it, it makes sense. Guess I'll have to put the top up more often. Here in Fla. it's an afterthought.

thanks much.
