Coil box nuts

A few days ago, a discussion was started on how to prevent wire breaking. In the post was a photo of a coil box, with a different type of nut, being used.
My question is this, has anyone used these and how good do they hold and were do you find them.

the nuts are used to hold the termnal box cover on the Model A.

On my last trip I lost a couple of coil box nuts. I intend to install toothed washers. They will cost a lot less than the Model A nuts. :)

Steve, when I build a coilbox I put a fibre washer on after the porcelain and then firm the nut up without crushing the porcelain. Then the wire terminal is fitted and the second nut. The key is a thinned down wrench to hold the inner nut so that it cannot move when the outer nut is done up. The outer nut becomes a locknut, so no star washer is needed.

Like Allen I use a fiber washer. To finish off I use a thin split washer over the wire terminal and a brass thumbnut. In 5300 miles I've never had one come loose.

I too use brass thumb nuts but without any washers on both the coil box and spark plugs. When the nut is almost tight, with the terminal a little to one side, I turn both the nut and terminal tight. Most of the time, they stay tight.
I know the voices aren't real but damn they have some good ideas! :shock:
