Tall Drivers

Post by Monty 98 » Wed Mar 02, 2022 8:34 pm

Any consensus on a 6' 2" tall person fitting a 1920-22 dr's coupe or centerdoor? Headroom?

I'm 6' 2" as well (used to be 6' 3") with long legs. I used to have a "22 coupe. The headroom was fine for me. Legroom was great. It was the most comfortable T I've ever driven.

I believe you will have more fun trying to get your foot on the reverse pedal. 😊

I have a 24 Coupe and I’m 6’3. But I wear 13 shoes. The reverse pedal extension really helps! Anybody taller than 6’4 and up I don’t see how they would be comfortable but they must have done it somehow.

I am 5'11" and wear a size 13 shoe. I would vote no on the center door due to difficulty getting in and out of the car, but I suspect the coupe would be fine. I will confess I've never driven a coupe of that era so I'm not sure. For whatever it is worth, I have a '26 Fordor that is pretty good, but my 26 Touring was quite uncomfortable after I had my knee surgery done. Hope that helps.

I wear a size 14 EEEE shoe. I turn my left foot and use the outside of my shoe. You know what they say about big feet---Don't believe it. bobt

I am 6'2" and can attest to centerdoors being difficult for the driver to clamber inside.

Center doors are an agility test....more difficult as one gets older, especially if you're a bit oversize. The coupes seem to be pretty comfortable for a T. I will agree with other posters about big feet and pedals. I have a pair of 14EEEE's with the result I put sideways extenders on the brake and clutch and a built up extender on the reverse. I even bent a piece of aluminum to extend the reverse extender downwards so I could slide the toe of my big clod up on it from below....works great for me!

The Centerdoor isn't too bad to get in if you enter from the passenger side and fold the passenger seat forward. It does require a bit of planning to get your feet in the right place while entering but once you get that down it's not that hard. I can do it with a bad back and knees.
