Center door splash apron
I brought home a 1919 center door projects a few months ago. The car is missing the splash aprons. I have heard that they are unique to this body style. Is this true?
Thank you,
Stephen

Re: Center door splash apron
Stephen, I think you have been misinformed. The Ford Price List of Parts does not list a different part number for a Running Board Shield for a center door sedan.

Re: Center door splash apron
Howells sheet metal lists the splash aprons online from 17-25 as the same for the open cars and Coupes but not the same for Sedans. That may be right because the rear fenders and rocker panels are different than the Coupes. I sold a 25 sedan and remember the rear fenders being different and possibly the splash aprons looking different from my 24 Coupe.
I think this has come up before as I remember.
Others may have the right answer for sure. Howells use to list the splash aprons from 17-25 the same in their older catalogs but now list them online as all except sedans.
Hopefully owners of Center door sedans will see the thread and make it more clear. The Ford parts books aren’t to clear sometimes in what fits what I’ve found not only in sheet metal parts but body iron also.
Rootliebs website has pictures of the different year splash shields for T’s. The sedan T splash shields are made differently than the more common open car splash shields. Rootliebs has been in business for many years so I’m assuming they are correct.

Re: Center door splash apron
Looking at the Price list, I find:
4814C Right All Cars 1917-1922
4815C Left All Cars 1917-1922
In some Parts Price lists, they list couplets, Torpedo, and Touring as 4814 & 4815.
I did not look in all the Price list books, just 19-22. These books do not list separate for Center Doors. I'm not saying they are right or wrong, just what they list.
Snyder's lists Sedan splash shields as 4814E, 4815E 17-23 $230 PAIR

Re: Center door splash apron
The splash shields sold by Howells/Langs/Snyders are all made by Rootlieb in CA. Their catalog lists them as 1917-1923 and they are indeed shown to be different.
The Encyclopedia shows only one type of sedan made from 1917 to mid 1923, when the “new” sedan was introduced.
The sedan from 1917-1922 was the “Centerdoor”

Re: Center door splash apron
Mine doesn’t have them either. I know a guy who owns one near me. I can go look at his on Monday. However it may not be “correct” as I don’t know who restored it before he got it.

Re: Center door splash apron
Will,
Snyder's has them in their catalog. 4814E and 4815E Listed as '17-'23 for $230/pair. They are the same as the ones I have off of my Center door.

Re: Center door splash apron
Terry,
If you have this style on your Centerdoor, then there IS a difference between Touring/Roadster and Centerdoor running board shields

Re: Center door splash apron
Seems like I read somewhere that the more common open car splash shields can be modified a bit to fit the center doors because the body mounts are all in the same location on the frames. Or something like that. Not sure about it.
