T doing a wheelie in the 30’s?

Post by John kuehn » Thu Feb 09, 2023 8:10 pm

Here is a photo of what looks like a high cowl T Touring doing a wheelie. But is it REALLY or is there lots of weight in the back or?

Lots of weight in the back. A roadster pickup with a few hundred pounds behind the axle would probably do it. At some point, if you kept adding weight, even a little throttle application would cause it. I've picked up stuff with a winch truck heavy enough to make it necessary to tap the brakes to steer.

There were cars built to do that for parades.

Yes I’m sure is was rigged up or weighted to do that back at that time.

I saw several of them in the '60's

everyone of them had a dramatically shortened wheelbase

Shriner Clowns had most of them.

And in the OP the driver appears to be wearing a Shriner Fez.
