A friend has this cover. Is it likely a genuine early one?

I’m leaning to the idea it’s a well home made cover instead of a Ford made cover. I was thinking that the early covers had a flat flange and the later had the slightly raised flange. The ones I’ve seen of early and later covers both have the smooth rounded ends. But I could be wrong. Just my opinion.

That is an early 3-piece Bendix cover, 1919, it should be zinc plated. Here are a couple of links about it:

It looks like from Allan’s first pic that the cover was repaired because it leaked and then carefully tapped over in places. You can see it in the photo. Ford later came up with a better idea with the improved cover.

Chaps, Bendigo is the home of our best swapmeet. How it got into the title I don't know. I can't see US spellcheck doing it????? Perhaps it was predictive text at work.
The cover has the remains of the zinc plating where it is not rusty. Going on the photos, I am inclined to think it is the real deal.
