There is no way to tell for sure without cleaning them. Cracks usually can only be seen when they are absolutely clean. They are greasy & dirty so I wouldn’t be able to see cracks. The “Ring test” doesn’t work unless they are clean. Some people test them by hitting them hard against something to see if they break. I personally think that’s a very bad idea and won't do it.

I do have some sets on the shelf that have been ultrasonic cleaned, visually inspected & ring tested. I’d sell one of those sets for$90. Please email me if you are interested. Thanks!

I am glad i tested mine by striking them on my anvil. Two broke, revealing old time cracks. I dodged two bullets. On that experience, they do need testing, in whatever way you choose.
