A nice unrestored Couplet. It will be interesting to see if it was ever "restored". It will/or did make a very nice T

Unless that car was listed in one of the old club member rosters by serial number (none that I can see in the two I have), you really couldn't. Most states are not going to give you that information on who owns it even if you did know the last state it was registered in. The clubs roster/directory would be about as close to a national data base as you can get.

The 2005 Membership Directory does show a few 1915s with photos and names but no serial numbers. If you have that directory, might start there.

This car as pictured was owned by Don Carlson who I believe lived in Connecticut. I met him at Hershey long ago, he had a space every year in the old white field. George, sorry I don't know the serial number.

With those distinctive spring shocks on the front, wooden steering wheel and license plate, it might be easy to spot, especially by our vast membership. I hope it is still around. Jim Patrick

That’s a really nice original with the remains of the original paint that’s survived over the years. By now it’s probably been at least repainted or sold and in somebody’s private collection. It’s probably gone by the wayside like Leon Parker’s lost T wood plans.

Over the years there have been posts about the Model T’s that were sold and being acquired about years later.
I hope this one is accounted for but the odds aren’t great.

Its a long shot but taking Kim's reference to Don Carlson in Connecticut. I found this obituary for a Donald Carlson in Kensington Connecticut just West of Hartford. https://patch.com/connecticut/berlin/be ... carlson-90 he passed in April 2018
From the obituary"He came home and went on to become a master in auto body work and in a short time, opened “D&D Auto Body” with a partner in Kensington. This was only the beginning of his career as he then changed his interest to antique and vintage cars. He worked on and owned almost every American antique car that was ever produced." Sounds like the guy!

Now you might try to contact MTFCA member ... Burlingtontguy ... Dennis Michaud in Burlington CT. He's posted many parts for sale in the classifieds and Burlington CT is about 20 miles away from Kensington

Most states are not going to give you that information...

When I lived in California I tried to research a car's history. I found that the state didn't keep records back more than five years. It wouldn't surprise me if that was the case in most states.

Yes that was Donny Carlson's 1915 Couplet.. I had the opportunity to buy it many times But not enough cash at the time. In 2000 he wanted $20,000 from me $25,000 from others, I believe that the couplet is still in Connecticut. If I see Donny's best friend Butchy I will find out who has the couplet. I miss Donny every day a great loss to the "T" world, Dennis Michaud

Thanks Dennis, I had a long standing offer of 25k to Donnie. He said the car would be sold to me when he was ready. He called one morning and said he had a better offer and wanted me to up my offer. I declined. I hope the car has a good home and is still in unrestored condition.

I don't intend to highjack this discussion, but I have Joyce Shierlow's 1915 coupelet listed for sale here in the Forum. When the Shierlow's bought the car in 1987, it was complete and had a 1916 coupelet included as part of the deal. After Charles completed the restoration, he sold the 1916, but I do not know the details of where it wound up.
I do know Joyce would consider a reasonable offer.

Well I have the same car sitting in my garage and I believe mine is a 16 with the port windows, so I guess the Connecticut coupelet would be a 16 also? My car looked the same when I picked it up and still looks the same except for a new top and interior. I prefer original cars over restored.
