Auburn Swap Meet---June 2023

Post by 67pontiac » Tue Apr 04, 2023 5:45 pm

Again, I apologize for the late notice about the cancellation of the Tulare Pre-War Swap Meet. I didn't find out 'til 10:30 Monday morning. Now, onto another subject.

The Auburn Swap Meet is scheduled for the first Sunday in June, that would be June 4th this year, with a move in day of Saturday June 3rd. I received a phone call from Erik and Michael about an hour ago. They'd like us all to "converge" on Auburn this June!! It isn't a strictly pre-war swap meet, but it is hosted by The Mother Lode Chapter of the MTFCA. I realize not everybody will be able to be there, but it is a chance to look at some "rusty iron". Dena and I are going to be working this entire year to make the Tulare meet for 2024 even better than what we planned for this year.

So what do you all think. Auburn isn't going to replace Tulare, it's simply an alternative for this year. And, it might give the Auburn meet a boost this year!! I have nothing to do with the promotion of the Auburn meet and I hope I'm not "stepping on anybody's toes". I'm simply trying to do what I can to keep this hobby alive. With Kind Regards, Bill Bennett

I really like strictly prewar swap meets!
Auburn may not be "strictly" prewar, however, most recent years it has generally been about half or better prewar! No serious wasting of time wandering around wondering where the early stuff is. If the next booth is modern stuff? The one across the isle probably isn't! It feels like half the stuff is model T or model A, along with a significant amount of Dodge, Buick, Studebaker, Cadillac, Packard etc. Even enough early horseless carriage stuff to interest most in the HCCA. Last time I went, there was a really nice circa 1910 unidentified frame there!
A lot of stuff at bargain prices! Along with a lot of pricy big demand items. Last time I went there were at least four model T overhead valve heads there! Winfield carburetors and auxiliary transmissions for the speedster crowd. There was a lot of great brass era model T stuff as well! There was almost enough stuff there to assemble a decent 1911 model T touring car! (Including a nice genuine 1911 block!)
I missed last year due to an illness. I am sure hoping to get there this year! It is only a bit over a half mile away for me!

Last year, 2022, we were rained out, so we know what its like to plan a meet only to have rain. Here is a link to some photos from prior meets.

and the Flyer.

No reservations needed. Many came in Saturday afternoon to setup.

This is a great swap meet! I've always found early parts, even some mixed in the post war spaces. It's well worth the trip! Lots of brass era treasures!
