I received my new Brassworks radiator but before installing it, I want to flush the motor. I have been researching different ways to do it. The one process I have been leaning to, is using CLR to remove the gunk buildup.
My question is, has anyone used CLR, how long did you leave it in the motor, did it remove the gunk.
Any other suggestions are welcome.

CLR is an acidic cleaner. I would be very cautious about using it in the cast iron water jacket of the engine block, for cast iron reacts much more aggressively to acid in that its’ porous surface deteriorates and breaks down much faster than steel. Jim Patrick

a hose, rubber stopper, air compressor and an optional rain suit
if the engine has been run with coolant, there will be very little large material that will need to come out, and what is there will yield pretty quickly to the above

I used vinegar. Let it sit for 24 hours then flushed with baking soda and hose water then just water really good.

Hi George,
Search Zep on this forum & Use of Vinegar to Clean Radiators. there will be old posts on the subject. If you use vinegar be sure to get industrial
grade vinegar the stuff in the grocery store is very much more dilluted.
