It’s been too hot to paint, so I took a little side job this past week. Started with a bare frame, running board brackets and a speedster kit a customer wanted setup. After sandblasting the frame and brackets we riveted everything in place. Of course they are bent and twisted, so I made a jig using John Regans frame and bracket dimensions. It’s 1” box tube with two studs out the bottom to locate the r/b holes. There are two stops on the top bar to separate the rails 20”.You clamp it to the top of the rails and heat the bracket and move it until you can place a clamp and draw it on to the studs. Do each one and you have brackets that are in the same location to the frame.

Then I located the firewall and installed the steering column.

Then attached the rear fender brackets and reshaped the front fender irons and got the fenders up on the chassis.

Then fit the aprons, attached the deck to the frame and the firewall to the frame. Was a nice little job, but it’s still way to hot out here.

Nice work! I really like the jig for the running board brackets.

Getting those brackets straight is definitely the first step in getting all of the sheet metal lined up.
