Where on the frame would be the best place to mount a starter solenoid? If you have one installed, would you please post a photo? Thanks.

Did this install a bit different than most. Since the footswitch was apart for refurbishing, drilled a hole in the base inside the cover. To that hole added machine screw and nut to secure one arm of the solenoid.

The solenoid needs ground so the foot switch provided that.

The small wire to the foot switch was easy that way.

Several months ago I made up about two dozen solenoid/cable/mounting bracket kits after I had installed some on my starter cars. I wanted to time study the manufacturing and establish material costs for the components based on multiple assemblies. I have "donated" a number of the kits to the common vendors for their consideration and sold a few, at my cost of materials, to a couple of interested friends and posters. As expected the response has been lukewarm. One of the previous posters did an installation and, while he spoke very well of the operation, complained that one of the cables was too short. Upon watching his video it became obvious that he had installed the solenoid upside down which was the cause of the problem. The kit replaces the starter switch to starter motor cable and requires no additional holes to be drilled, no additional wiring, and no modification of the car in any way. My installation time has been about half an hour and can be done without even removing the floorboards, although that would make the process easier. I still have a number of kits left and would make them available for the material cost plus tax and USPS shipping charges. If you have an interest you can PM me through the forum as I do not want to circumvent the "no sales" condition of the general forum. Pictures can be seen on a former post and the cost would be in the neighborhood of 75 dollars. The kit allows the option of maintaining the use of the foot switch, locating a remote pushbutton switch, or both.

if you are using a solenoid like is used on a mid 70's ford pickup, the bolt pattern fits right on the steering column bolts if you want to put it under the hood for easy access.
