How many flip up oil cups?

Post by Campbell Tellman » Mon Aug 25, 2025 10:23 am

Hey All,
I am restoring a '16 Touring and some of the oil cups are missing. How many should there be on my car?
Thanks,

You need to research and see if you need those or manhole cover oilers.

Thanks for the reply.
The remaining oil cups have a spring loaded cover. They are brass.

The only "cup oiler" on a '16 would be on the spindle & tie rod bolts & they would be "manhole" which are not available that I know of - perhaps Restoration Supply might have something similar in 1/8" pipe. The shackles are all 1/8" p. "twist" oilers.

and they've been made before - just not cheap like folks want so badly, so they didn't sell well

If the shackles have the brass twist type threaded in oilers, might these also be used on the king pins and tie rod ends? If that is the case, the only flip top ones may be in the frame for the handbrake cross shaft. 15-17 is when the changes from brass to flip tops was made, so all sorts of overlaps may have happened, including changes from manhole type lids to flip top lids.
