Langs doesn't have an amp meter. Mine is sticking. Is there a way to clean it? or somewhere else to get one?

Re: Buzz Coils

I send my coils to Ron Patterson (the Coilman) to have them rebuilt and adjusted. If yours haven't been done by someone who specializes in coil maintenance, I would suggest you do so. Ron installs new capacitors and contacts and adjusts them for optimum operation. A Model T will run on three cylind...

Re: Buzz Coils

A coil wont buzz until contact is made in the timer. The coils dont all buzz @ the same time. If you turn on the ignition & dont hear a buzz, sometimes moving the spark lever will make that contact. You dont want the coil to fire until the piston is in the proper position @ just past TDC with a cha...

Re: Buzz Coils

When you turn the key to battery, one coil may buzz, or none may buzz, depending on whether the engine happens to be stopped where one of the timer contacts is closed or not. Turning the engine, whether with the starter or the crank, will usually cause one or another of the coils to buzz. With the ...

I think i fixed the "surging" problem with cleaning gas line and sediment bowls. It is still a little weaker than it used to be going from first to second with a mild up slope. This last weekend while trouble shooting, one of the buzz coils wasnt sparking at all while running but later i looked at i...

Re: surging

Bill, by "air screw" you might mean the carb fuel air mixture knob. Try starting with the mixture knob opened 1 1/2 turns, after start turn it down about 1/2 - 3/4 turn and listen to the RPM. When the RPM starts to slow open it up a little. Keep playing with more and less mixture to find the sweet ...

I have only driven My 24 Coupe a few times but last weekend i noticed it was weaker than before. the transition from first to second was slower to gain speed. Re: surging

Bill; A quick way to confirm fuel starvation problems is to pull out the choke next time it surges. Don't hold it pulled, just a quick pull should tell you if fuel really is the problem. For the record, most fuel problems are electrical....... but maybe this one isn't. Timer problems are a way more...

Sounds like fuel. Scott sells a Full-Flow valve which allows more fuel to the carb. They work and are one of the cheapest performance upgrades you can add.

Gene, Just bought my first Model T and i don't know much about it yet. 24 Coupe. How do i know if my bearings are ready to be replaced are there any warning signs without taking the engine apart? You shim them until you run out of room right?
