Four Door Windshield Changes 1924-27
I am trying to help a friend who is new to Model T's. He has a 1927 Four Door Sedan and is missing the windshield frames as well as some other major parts. Since I don't know much about the Sedans, I am asking for help.
I have been told that a lot of parts on the Four Door Sedans are interchangeable from 1924 through 1927. In looking at pictures in the Encyclopedia, the bottom of the windshield appears to be straight across in the earlier 24-25 Sedans while the 26-27 Sedans appear to have a curve to the bottom windshield. Since the Sedans (I believe) did not go to the gas tank in the cowl as in other 1926 models, what did the bottom of the windshield look like? I found a nice windshield for a Four Door Sedan but it is straight across.
Can someone post some pictures of the windshield and other parts around the windshield that he needs to look for?
Thanks for your help.
Dennis

I think that if the car your helping out with is a (27) most of the body parts in the 25 era and back won’t interchange.
Ford went to the improved body starting in August 25 but the 4 door remained like the 25 but with an all steel body. So it seems to be identical but after a while into the 26 year they started changing into the improved body style.
The 27 was a fully improved car and it would have the improved windshield which would be the curved bottom style.
Ck out the model T encyclopedia on the MTFCA website. It sheds some light about the 4 door gradual changes in late 25-26.

Here are pictures of the 1926 Fordor split windshield. Nothing like the 1926 win shields on the other closed car styles. Jim Patrick

James,
Thanks for posting the pictures. Nice looking T. I see that the windshield is curved on the lower portion. Do you have measurements of the top portion? Would the top portion be the same for 25-25 and 26-27?
Could you also post pictures of the seats as well?
Thanks again for your help.

The top portion of the 26-27 closed cars is wider. The 24-25 closed car is different in that both halves of the windshield are the same. The 26-27 closed car windshields are totally different.

I sold this Model T last month for $8,500.00. New owner lives in Texas and is due to pick it up at the end of April. Here are pictures of the seats. Jim Patrick

Top windshield from R frame edge to L frame edge is 38 3/4”. From inside frame at top to bottom edge of glass is 9 3/4”. I do not know how far the glass goes up into the frame channel. Jim Patrick

Thanks for posting these pictures and the measurements. They should be a big help.
Would the buyer of the T be anywhere near Dallas?
Thanks again.
