Source for C Cab TT FLOORBOARDS

Post by JTT3 » Wed Apr 24, 2024 9:10 pm

Checking for a newly revived TT’s owner, does anyone make floor boards for the TT commercially. If not does anyone have any plans with location & measurements? The owner said he’s just about wasted an entire 4x8 sheet of plywood trying to get a good fit. I have to admit I did chuckle. Thanks in advance for your help.

Best John

John,

Lang's lists them in their catalog: 3626COAH
Year: 1924-1925
Condition: New
Price: $149.95 set
Try the same 3626 number for different years and wood vs. plywood. I checked Snyder's, they didn't list any for TTs.

Good Luck

Yep Langs has them listed but said they haven’t had any TT FLOOR Boards for over a year & didn’t expect to.

Thanks for the response though,

If they are cut from boards, there should be less wastage, and it is easier to map the fit.

The least costly thing may be to contact THF and pay ($7?) for an original Ford drawing, and make your own boards.

Steve that’s an answer that makes sense however he just got his TT motor/transmission rebuilt and they got it cranked yesterday. How long does it take, do they email it or snail mail it? Is there a direct number to call and ask? Sorta like a Christmas present just sitting there that hasn’t been opened, he’s champing at the bit to drive it.
Any of you TT OWNERS have original boards or reproduction you could measure & post. Its a 1925 & as you can see Richard is smiling like a Cheshire Cat.

John,
It is not so easy to get a drawing, but I have done it both in person and by phone or e-mail, here is their contact info:

Benson Ford Research Center
The Henry Ford
20900 Oakwood Boulevard
Dearborn, MI 48124-5029
313-982-6020
research.center@thehenryford.org

1) You will need to give them the factory number, not the parts book part number. However, body part numbers and factory part numbers are the same for the later years.

2) You will need to specify a year of the drawing. Keep in mind that there may be as many as a dozen different versions of the same drawing each year, some of the revisions will be unreadable and are too light or too dark.

For the open cab TT truck body, the Ford Body Parts manual lists the same floor board part numbers for years 1924-1927.

There are 3 drawings, one for each floorboard section, these are the factory part numbers and title:

T-9495BX Board, floor and plate assy. No. 1
T-9496BX Board, floor and plate assy. No. 2
TT-12308X Board, floor and plate assy. No. 3

Prior to late 1926, all floorboards were made up from random width wood of various species, joined together with tongue and groove to make a single board with a wood key fitted along the edge to reduce warping. In late 1926, plywood became an optional material. If you ask for the drawings dated 1927 you should get the plywood versions of the 3 floorboards.

Have obtained several drawings from the Benson Ford. The hardest time was during the pandemic. Today, still the same as staff hasn't increased since then.....

Use mail to order, or electronic, download the form from the website for drawings. As mentioned, you have to use Factory Numbers, not Part Numbers from the Parts and Price Books, the Factory Numbers are normally also listed in those books. They do like to send the drawings electronically, in pdf files. I personally find that Digital Image Order form is the way to go. Usually mail the form with check payment. If not enough payment for the work, like if extra reaseach is needed, they will just bill you for additional. The prices are noted on the form for what you are requesting. If your want print copies, specify that, but the price goes up, and some of the paper prints are very large for even small parts.

Here was a request made during the pandemic, but got lucky. Also showing a portion of the drawing for a # 1 board on early Ts, like a 1911. Easy to print off the electronic copy when saved to your PC.

P.S. You can see that the old myth of 'shipping crates or parts boxes being given specs to such suppliers by Ford for floorboards' is indeed a fairy tale.No parts supplier could meet these specs, including the noted finish in black paint. And any small parts in a box with slots and holes would fall out

Jeff & Dan thanks for that info. I sent it to the owner. A great story about the Canadian C cab, it will be in a write up in the news letter for Central Coast FMTC. If any one can I’d still like to have the measurements best John

Here's some photo's & measurements from my 24 C Cab floorboards. Ordered from Lang's a few yrs ago. Waited over a year for their vendor to deliver, opted for hardwood but got 2 different types of oak. As you can see I added a foot throttle notch. The hinge in the middle helps installation. Hope this helps.

Great photos but it might be a '24 BUT you have '26-'27 transmission pedals so the slots are not in the same position.

Yes, I installed the 1924 cab on a 26-27 chassis, and lowered

] the roof so it will fit in a standard garage. All original running gear with some modern upgrades for safety & convenience. Tried to use up surplus T parts before they end up in the scrap heap.
The truck Henry Ford should have thought about producing.
