Battery for a 14 Roadster
All you 14/13 roadster owners out there, where did you put your starting battery? On my 1915 touring I put a 12 vote dry sell on the main sill next to the gas tank but on the roadster there in no room to get a battery into that area.
Thank you Craig

Re: Battery for a 14 Roadster
Need some clarification. As a "starting battery" do mean just to start your T and then switch to magneto. A small one used for a winch or trolling motor, these are deep cycle batteries so then can be recharged many times & have good Ah & reserve capacity. Motorcycle/Lawn mower battery will work too. These can fit almost anywhereCraig E. Luton wrote: ↑Mon Sep 01, 2025 10:10 pmAll you 14/13 roadster owners out there, where did you put your starting battery? Re: Battery for a 14 Roadster
For an ignition battery, a 12 volt non-spill mower/ATV/garden tractor type battery does a fine job. They can be set up to charge off the magneto. For a cranking battery, the red top Optima battery is hard to beat. They don't leak or spill, they are lightweight, and they usually last a long time. Mine lays on its side under the seat, and it is about 12 years old, and it still starts the car. My charging system is a stock T generator and cutout. I would recommend using one of the available voltage regulators rather than a simple cutout. The stock system lacks adequate regulation and is hard on any battery compared with a proper regulator.

My 1913 runabout has a small coil size 12 volt battery in the tool compartment in back of the gas tank.

Re: Battery for a 14 Roadster
I have a 12v motorcycle battery tucked into the V shaped tool compartment next to the gas tank on my 1915.
