1926 Ignition Switch Screws

Post by xtr2turbo » Sun Sep 01, 2019 5:03 pm

Hello

Does anyone know the thread size for the screws that hold the wiring loom to the back of the ignition switch?

Thank you

David

The proper screw to use for the ignition switch is #6-32. The original screws have 5/16 inch of threads on #6-32 round head screws with small split lock washers. If the screws are too long they will prevent the springy contacts from going into the depressions in the fiber back plate inside the switch. If you have a crimping tool for electrical terminals like the one shown, you can easily trim the screws to the right length without damaging the threads.

No6 x5/16 fits. Actually feels quite slack in the thread but tightens up ok.

Thanks for the suggestions

David
