Cowl id

Post by Speedo1 » Fri Jun 05, 2020 5:36 pm

Secondary to door I’d is this cowl section someone tried to make into a truck. I believe a 27: frame numbers are 27, and if cowl is original to frame, I’m not sure. The cowl door does have a stop that holds it open half-way open. This would make it a Fordor, correct?
Thanks

I’m sorry, about this particular one, or one similar?

The firewall has the opening for the fuel shut off valve and the two tank strap holes, so 26-27 coupe or tudor. Yes, the coupe and tudors had a gas door that would prop open for ventilation.

Couple more photos. I’m my humble opinion, not a very good “ back-half” job, although I believe the rear window upper half is genuine Ford.

Fordors from '26-'27 did not have cowl gas tanks. That can't be from a Fordor.

Cowl vent on Fordor will have bracket and handle under to operate from the front seat. Spring loaded, there may be remains if a Fordor.

Otherwise the cowl lid on the cars with gas tanks has only a clip hinge on the rear of the lid, to prop it and a second detent to fully hold it open for gas ups.
